WHY DO DST ?

Working along with Hallam University's Centre for Sport and Exercise Science and Dr Rav Naik, Joshua Isaac Smith pioneered DST as a stability training system that accelerates postural and abdominal muscle activation in walking, running and exercise. This means you get the maximum body toning when doing DST methods.

Using MBT footwear, these effects are enhanced even further. Below is the the latest data on MBT Walking(Max Body Toning), the DST walking system using the Dynamic Walking Method of counter rotatoins of thoracic spine, neutral hips, shorter steps, and using the buttocks and hamstrings to power the body forward. The data is in reference to wearing MBTfootwear versus walking in normal trainers.

Recent studies show that during a 30-minute DST Walking workout you will achieve:

  • 26% more cardiovascular output and increased heart rate than normal walking
  • 17% more cardiovascular output and increased heart rate than jogging
  • 78% more activation in the buttocks
  • 45% more activation in the hamstrings
  • 70 % more activation in the gastrocnemius at heel strike
  • 3 % more activation in the multifidus

All Hallam University figures are maximum values taken at various stages of the gait cycle. All MBT Academy figures are taken as an average of various time intervals using heart rate measurements.
