What's On in Sheffield
We hope you enjoy your stay in Sheffield. The venues we have chosen for the event will take you to some of our showcase sites in the city centre.
There are a few sights that can be seen close to our venues which are worth checking out, but if you want to spend more time in the city, or if you are bringing a partner with you we would like to make a few suggestions of our local sights and entertainments.
The City Hall , which is our main conference venue fronts onto Barkers Pool with its recently installed water feature, the Winter Garden, where we are holding our Wednesday evening drinks reception is attached to the Millennium galleries, and adjacent to the Peace Gardens, The Cutler Hall which is the venue for our gala dinner is opposite the city's Cathedral.
The city centre also hold the Graves Art Gallery, and more can be seen at the newly refurbished Western Park Museum, which is little over one mile from the city centre and within a pleasant stroll from the Botanical Garden If you or your partner are interested in the steel city's industrial past you may enjoy a visit to Kelham Island or the Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet
If you prefer sporting activities, there is a large sports centre and swimming pool central to the city, we also have a dry ski slope about mile out of the city centre We also have a large amount of sporting facilities in Don valley where the institute of sport is situated, the area includes a new ice rink.
Also in the Don valley, which has a tram service from the city centre there is an entertainment centre, with cinema, ten pin bowling, restaurants and nightclubs, the Hallam FM Arena, which is a national concert venue is also here.
For a night out in town Sheffield has many restaurants and pubs to choose from, and of course a few nightclubs.
Sheffield is fortunately placed for easy access to the Peak District National Park, and all the pleasures that brings, But if all you really want to do after a busy conference is “shop till you drop” then Meadowhall is the place for you.
